This and That

Mike and I have had fun using our snow shoes we got for Christmas, although it's only been two times.  The first time we went up Green Canyon by ourselves, then a few weeks ago we went with Trace, Jamie, Ryan, Jess and Brad up Providence Canyon.  It is so great to get outside during the winter and enjoy the beautiful winter scenery.

Every spring it's always amazing to me how quickly the snow melts once it warms up a little and we get a few rain storms.  I should have documented this better, but this picture was taken about the 3rd week of February after we had three 8-9" snowstorms within about 10 days.

This one was taken on Thursday, March 17th.  It just does something to my mental state knowing warm days aren't too far away!
Jake went to his first high school dance (and first date) which was the Jr. Prom last weekend. He didn't like the dance, but had fun at the dinner beforehand, and the after dance party.  This was the way his date answered him back on our front porch.
I love making green food for St. Patricks day.  For breakfast we had green pancakes, green eggs and ham, and green water or milk.  I made molasses cookies with green frosting for friends and neighbors, and green homemade bread and corn chowder for dinner (forgot the green food coloring for that- as I forgot my green St. Patricks day shirt for the first half of the day. . . I must be getting old).
I was ready for a change in the living room with the picture above the couch.  I didn't like having to change a out a big family picture every year or so, and I wanted to show more pictures from a photo shoot than just one.  So with Ann's help here is what I ended up with:  this is before. . .

and here is after.  Thanks also to Janet and Von for their input on the windowpane I found at a craft fair in Burley last weekend when me Ann and Von went to visit Janet.  I'm so excited with how it turned out!

I discovered something very upsetting in our backyard this week.  Someone left our side gate open, and sometime during the winter, we were visited by deer who pooped ALL over the grass, and totally destroyed our arborvitae bushes.  I'm SOOOO mad!!!
Jake had his first home lacrosse game this week.  It was fun to watch him and be outside in the 41 degree weather. . . can't wait until it's a little warmer than that
Cam turned 15 on Friday!  Can it be?  He wanted to get his permit, but the office isn't open on Friday's. But I did let him drive around the church parking lot and our neighborhood.  He chose his favorite breakfast- waffles with fresh fruit and whip cream, I took him out to eat at Panda and then birthday shopping. He got a new stereo, mini NFL helmets,  and a mini-fridge for his room (from both sets of grandparents).  He's been wanting one for a few years. He thinks it will be cool to keep cold drinks in there so he won't have to walk all the way upstairs to get a drink.  Funny boy.  We took him (and Jake) out to eat at Sizzler, then we watched the DVD "Knight and Day." It was a fun day.  Tomorrow I'll make one of his favorite meals, manicotti and invite Jess, Brad, Tom and Freda over for dinner.
And last but not least, here is an update on how Cam's scar looks after 3 weeks.  He is putting scar guard on it twice a day for two months, then he'll see the plastic surgeon in a year since it will take that long to see how it will look for the rest of his life.  I'm amazed at how good it looks already.
